Amazing chocolate fudge recipe
Ingredients:
3.5 cups (525g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup (57g) unsalted butter
3 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup (120g) chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans work well)
Instructions:
Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Set aside.
In a medium-sized, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.
Place the saucepan over low heat and stir constantly until the chocolate and butter have melted completely, and the mixture is smooth. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt until well combined.
If using nuts, fold them into the mixture now.
Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it’s firm to the touch.
Once firm, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
Place on a cutting board and cut into 1-inch squares with a sharp knife.
Storage:
Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Tips for Amazing Fudge:
Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
Don’t rush the melting process; low and slow is key to prevent burning.
For a smoother texture, sift the salt before adding it to the mixture.
Experiment with different mix-ins like dried fruit, crushed candy canes, or swirls of peanut butter.
For cleaner cuts, dip your knife in hot water and wipe it dry between slices.
Enjoy your amazing homemade fudge!
